Dear Readers,
You may be wondering why I haven't posted for a while, sorry I have been busy with university work, got to get it all done by next month. Got quite a few assignments to complete. Will try to post my practices from Salford City Radio for you to listen and comment on, going back there again on Monday, they are training me so I will be good enough to do my own specialist show on 60s and 70s music for an hour!
Seems like theres nowhere to add audio which is a shame, i'd like feedback on my work!
Weather has been disappointing here recently, cold and rainy I hate it!

WHAT GLORIOUS WEATHER!!!
Dear Readers,
Certainly loving this sunny weather- definitely have to embrace it in this country! What have you all been up too? Get in touch with a comment below.. today I went to hand my CV into a shop then to a garden centre with my mum and her best mate, and mum got some plants for the garden.
Sure hope to get my Radio recordings on Monday then you can all have a listen.
Currently listening to S club 7- reliving my youth :) will be going to see Birds of A Feather at the Lowry with mum in May, another thing that was a big part of my youth in 1997 ish.. I love things like that, happy times when I was a kid and didn't realise of the problems in life, everything was so perfect and carefree.

A NEW WEEK..
Dear Readers,
Hope you are all doing ok! Yesterday I had my 2nd recording in the Radio studio ( I am at the practice stage at the moment so I don't actually go out live on air, but apparently i'm improving which is good to hear!! )
I want to get a copy of them and hopefully can attach them to here for you to listen and comment on. I mentioned Mothers Day in my recording and asked what people did, I took my mum to Istanbul Grill- a Turkish restaurant nearby, it was lovely!! I specialised on 1970's music and just played songs from that era- some were: Sister Sledge- Greatest Dancer and Grease- Summer Nights-- getting people boogying!! I also mentioned Corrie and the story with Frank, he was such a horrible character!
Someone subscribing to my blog (Ilona) you know who you are, mentioned I need to put more content in my posts, so I hope this suffices!
Had a successful day today- sold my computer monitor for £10-- started up my nest egg to get a new computer- got £15 saved up! I want to get a computer with the tower built in, it's so much more compact and looks really good!

NOT POSTED FOR A WHILE..
Dear Readers,
Not posted for a while- my week so far has been fine apart from me feeling off with a stomach virus :(.
On Monday I went to Salford City Radio and got to practice on the equipment and record a short part, hopefully get it on Monday and will post it here if I can.
Received some Oreo's that i've won in a Facebook competition, can't wait to try them, om nom nom :D

Got a Citizen James DVD through the post today, won it in a competition , have to say I was very disappointed when I watched it and the style was nothing like the older comedies such as: Bless this House and George and Mildred for example.

THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL REVIEW..
Dear Readers,
Went to the Odeon with my mum today to go and see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel-- had some top class actors: Penelope Wilton, Judi Dench and Bill Nighty. I would highly recommend it, the narrative was based around pensioners going to a hotel in India and it is only half built. Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionaire was hilarious in it :) . Showed some of India which was nice to see and they rode in Tuk Tuk's (Indian taxis, the name makes me laugh).

University is good..
Dear Readers,
Enjoying my options at University now, heavily based on Radio, taking 2 Radio modules which is good.
Went to XFM Radio studios, didn't get shown round much, mostly a talk so wasn't that interesting to be honest!
Will attach some pictures of some cool graffiti I saw in Birmingham this week :)

Watched the Royle Family earlier, I like that show!
Sunday will be a sensitive day for me and my mother- 2 year anniversary of my dads death, was extremely hard for me to come to terms with it, and on Monday got my Salford City Radio slot.

NEW WEEK..
Dear Readers,
Had a lovely few days in Birmingham, weather quite sunny and all which was good. Went to the Flaming Dragon Chinese buffet, was ok, we have one in Bury and all, ours is better though!
Went for walks and had a Chinese takeaway another night- I had Beef with Noodles, my favourite :)
Sold my Belkin router on Gumtree for £5 pretty quickly, so that was good!
Anyone think there's not that many comps to enter at the moment?
Got a Uni Radio trip to XFM Radio station tomorrow morning, hope it will be informative!

I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT..

Watched the movie- I Don't Know How She Does It this afternoon with mum- the DVD I won and liked it much better the 2nd time round!
Trying to sell my Belkin router because I have no need for it now so put an ad on a website.
Going to Birmingham tomorrow- excited about that :D. Been nice to stay in today and almost packed my stuff.

WEEKEND...
Dear Readers,
Can't believe how quick the week has gone, not as many competitions to enter at the moment, mind you i'm pretty busy so don't have that much time. I'm busy every day next week as well. Going to Birmingham from Sunday to Tuesday, should enjoy myself :) going to see Martin, and hopefully go to the Flaming Dragon on Broad St for a meal.
Been busy in university, good in Radio class to learn the controls and record things with the desk, need as much experience on it as possible, good I get one to ones in my work experience too so hopefully be good in a few months! I recorded someone interviewing me about old sitcoms I love and my tutor gave me a few pointers for me to improve and said i'm very upbeat and interesting to listen to, the best one in the class :). I mentioned George and Mildred as one of my favourite ones and as a matter of fact i'm watching it now on ITV3.
Downloaded a song Noel Gallagher- If I Had A Gun- good song :) and manc man too, I like Oasis.

A new week and received a £20 Odeon voucher from a Facebook competition I have won :) yay, pic to follow on this post!
Started my work experience at Salford City Radio today, will be for about 6 sessions, will learn more of the practical aspect and hopefully by the end be competent enough to broadcast a show! I'm determined to reach that stage. Really enjoyed it today!

ANOTHER GOOD DAY
Dear Readers,
Got some more prizes ( went to Post Office to collect the parcel), 4 books and a £10 Printworks voucher, pic to follow in this blog post :). Not doing bad, am i! Getting to actually benefit from comping now because I do put a lot of effort and hours in. Got Radio lectures- had one today and another tomorrow. Be good to get to use the desk a bit more, I want to get more familiarised with it since i'd love to be a Radio presenter.
Went to a meeting in uni about appearing as an Extra in TV Programmes, will see if I hear back from them, would love to do that and it's good money!

COR BLIMEY...
Dear Readers,
Definitely been a busy few days- yesterday was off course Valentines Day- the day for lurve- got a gorgeous Valentines card and big box of Thorntons chocolates from Martin- lovely surprise, how romantic :). Also got quite a few things i've won in competitions in the post: Pandora Bracelet, Durex Lube and Cadbury Wispa, with more things to come that i've won..doing really well!
Went to Harvester last night, first time going there and was nice, then went to a pub later on. Sure was a lovely day.
Busy with university this week as well.. been in today and going in tomorrow and Friday also.

TRYING MILLS AND BOON BOOKS...
Dear Readers,
Been out to Bury today ( a local town). looked around for a Mills and Boon book in the Works but unfortunately no luck, only wanted to spend a couple of quid on one but in the end went to WH Smith and bought one with 2 stories in for £5:60, shame didn't get a bargain. Never read Mills and Boon's books before but really wanted to..I love Romance!

ON THE BUSES..
Dear Readers,
Feeling a bit chilly today so got the heater on. Watched the Eastenders omnibus earlier, was good and now got On the Buses on channel ITV3. I really like my classic comedies. my mum isn't so keen on this show but it's one of my favourite ones. Olive ( Anna Karen) is my favourite character because she's hilarious, a bit geeky as well and also Jack ( Bob Grant) is good because he's a ladies man. Anyone else like this show?
I find it interesting that they put adverts on channels which link in: such as HSL chairs on ITV3 when showing classic comedies, so mainly aimed at older viewers.
If any of you know anyone who will be interested in my blog then please get them to subscribe!

WENT TO SALFORD CITY RADIO OPEN DAY..
Dear Readers,
How are you all? I am feeling slightly better today, still got a bad cold but at least managed to leave the house, been in the house for a week and actually the fresh air did me some good!
The open day at Salford City Radio was good, met some nice people, looked round the radio station and saw how the equipment operates, filled in a form to apply and hope I get some work experience, will ring them and tell them when i'm free to come in.
Will relax in a nice bath later, warm me up a bit.

A GOOD DAY WITH COMPING...

Just got another email saying i've won 2 bags of Cadbury Wispa- Bitsa Wispa, they look so yum, can't wait to try them when i'm better, be a nice treat :D. Definitely seems to be my month for comping...
Reminiscing about the good old days in the 1990's when I didn't worry about anything and was just a kid, everything was perfect. Makes me sad in a way: this is a good example of a song/ artist I loved growing up: Christina Aguilera- Genie in a bottle -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIDWgqDBNXA, another is Billie Piper who's songs I loved and I still love her songs and her role in Secret Diary of A Call Girl- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFDtlHmiJYo , these pop songs had dodgy connotations, don't you think?

Just got a winning email and I have won a Pandora bracelet complete with 1 charm :) - really chuffed since I like Pandora.
Lovely surprise since feeling lousy still, relaxing on the sofa and just had some of my mums home made vegetable soup- aww she looks after me really well, i love her!
Was watching Watching a 80's comedy from Liverpool, anyone know it? Good classic one and now gonna watch Doctors.

Was a nice surprise from the postman today- I won a DVD- I Don't Know How She Does It with Sarah Jessica Parker. Not doing bad this month! The film is ok, will watch it again with mum.
On the sofa with mum having a cuppa out of my TV Times mug and watching the Iron Lady, really good film!!

ONCE ON A SUNDAY MORNING..

I watched some episodes of Benidorm series 4 earlier ( one of the newer comedies that I actually like).
Still not left the house because of the icy conditions - how has the weather affected you?
I made a nice pasta bake with bubbly Edam cheese on the top for my dinner, nom nom, good food in this weather!

Listening to Salford City Radio
Listening to Salford City Radio since it's local and I may be going there for a open day on Saturday, want to see if they will offer me a placement or some work experience ( so wish me luck). As our Radio lecturer says we should listen to radio since we want to be presenters (good point). This station is like any commercial one but good with the local news and adverts. Got the Example playing now, a good band, sound northern to me! Good to familiarise myself with the style incase they ask me any questions about it. I reckon the demographic is from 16-25 because it's quite fast paced. Would love to be more competent on a Radio desk and to play music as well, so having a placement would really help.

ANOTHER COLD DAY!
Dear Readers,
Got a nice surprise in the post today- I won an Inbetweeners book from Channel 4, looks a good fun book to read :D! A good start to February in terms of comping anyway, a fun hobby of mine these days! Since subscribing to Compers News, I haven't won from there, shame because many people have.
Weather is cold and icy out there so not stepping out of the door till the weather improves!
I've got Keeping up Appearances on the TV on UK Gold now- one of my favourite comedies, and channel come to think of it! This episode is when Richard forgets his and Hyacinths wedding anniversary, and at the last minute installs a burglary alarm.. don't blame him for forgetting being married to Hyacinth, she's a great character though! They don't make comedies like this anymore!
Most of my TV usage is watching classic comedies, movies, and soaps.
Only got university on Thursday and Friday this week so hopefully will be able to get out for then!

They don't make comedies like this anymore!
Most of my TV usage is watching classic comedies, movies, and soaps.
Only got university on Thursday and Friday this week so hopefully will be able to get out for then!

My first blog post
Dear Readers,
Welcome to my blog and first post!
I am Dorit-Samantha a 21 year old Media student who loves things relating to the 1960's and 1970's especially music and movies. I am currently watching Carry on Loving (1970) where Sid James and Hattie Jacques run a dating agency! I will be writing quite heavily on that era but also about my daily/ university life. Attached a poster ta relates to the film and also to Britain so I like the connection it has!
